CASCASTEL CHATEAU

The Association Cassio Castello

The Association was created and the statutes presented at the Sous Préfecture at Narbonne on the 15 November 1991 and modified by an Annual General Meeting on the 27th December 2001.

Article 1 :
The Association was founded by those members present and conforms to the Law of the 1st July 1901 and the decree of 16th August 1901, and has the title of :

The Aims

Article 2 :
This Association has for its aims:

bring together all aspects (historical, cultural, artistic) concerning the Village of Cascastel
participate in supporting art and culture in the Corbières, the Department of the Aude and the Region of Languedoc-Roussillon.
help to safeguard the Château by contact and consultation with the elected representatives in the local and regional councils and the administrative services concerned.

Our region has a number of major historical sites like the Cité of Carcassonne, the Fort at Salses, the Palace of the Kings of Majorca at Perpignan, and the “Cathar” Castles, guardians of the frontier with Aragon (1258 - 1659), but there is also a rich local rural history stretching far back in time. Ancient sites disappear as a result of the re-use of materials in other places or by floods but also by ignorance or misunderstandings on the part of our ancestors. Only research and interpretation allow us to discover the significance and the richness of these ancient sites.

Our web site aims to present all that is known about Cascastel and also stay up to date with any new research.
